A sincere thank you for your work at our College's End Of Year Function on Saturday night.  I cannot praise you highly enough for the professionalism, service and goodwill you exhibited when presented with the challenge of providing food and staff for 40 people, with little more than two hours' notice.  What seemed to me to be an impossible task, was dealt with calmly, quickly and effectively - and an event would have otherwise been a disaster was suddenly transformed into a success.

Our waitperson, Libby, was nothing short of brilliant.  Her polite and consistent service throughout the evening underpinned the smooth running of the event - and all the extra work she elected to undertake, including cleaning glasses, tidying the kitchen, monitoring drinks and circulating with some homemade desserts, showed commitment to her job and the highest levels of professionalism and care.

Several people at the party commented on her gentle and pleasant demeanour, not to mention the amount of work she was quietly getting through all night!  The fact she made herself available at such short notice is deeply appreciated, and also demonstrates commitment and loyalty to you.  In short, she did your company enormous credit on Saturday, and I trust you will pass on this note of thanks from us to her.

Finally, I truly do apologise for placing you in the position I did.

For many businesses, this lsat minute function would normally have meant that catering services would not (or could not) be provided.  For you to advise without hesitation that food would, indeed, be provided, and then to produce a waitperson within 15 minutes was astounding.
